Tasting note for 2005 vintage:
This estate is new to me. It is near the village of Trequanda, not far from Montalcino and Montepulciano, but in a corner of Tuscany, not usually associated with viticulture, so without either a DOC or DOCG. Hence this wine is an IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica, and the Italian equivalent of vin de pays) and made from Merlot, rather than the ubiquitous Sangiovese, that virtually dominates all the DOC (G)s of Tuscany . The wine has a deep young colour, with some perfumed, plummy fruit which follows through on the palate. The fruit is nicely balanced with tannin and acidity, with a firm finish.
