In 1961 a group of vine-growers who believed in cooperation, led by Don Antonio Labarile, an enlightened farmer, decided to create a structure that could gather the grapes produced in the area of Santeramo in Colle and the nearby area.
Urged by noble social principles, these pioneers created the cooperative called Cantina Sociale di Santeramo in Colle, for cooperative reasons rather than profit, but mainly to gain more contractual strength on the market, thus defending their legitimate interests.
Throughout the years, the cooperative underwent a series of improvements and updating, passing form simple mass production to the current production of high quality wines using state-of-the-art wine-making techniques, and the careful selection of the grapes brought by the members.
A few years ago, the Cantina Sociale di Santeramo was renamed Cantine del Colle scarl to strengthen the new productive business organization. The technical innovation was carried out with the aim of creating typical products of the highest quality. This is one of the reasons that urged the administrators to move the plants, and the entire cCellars, to the current headquarters.
