Fattoria Il Lago - Dicomano, Toscana
www.fattoriaillago.com
Fattoria Il Lago is an old vineyard situated in the region of Chianti Rufina, originally owned by the Marquis Vivai-Bartolini-Salimbeni, a noble Florentine family since the 16th century.
In 1962 the vineyard became the property of the Spagnoli family with a contract to supply signed by Marquis Pietro.
For many centuries the farm has concentrated on its cultivation of grapes and the production of wine as testified by one of the antique wine presses dating back to 1806 that can still be examined in the main reception
The new owners have since invested in a process of restoration of the buildings with special attention being given to the vineyard and agrarian patrimony.
Further investment by the Spagnoli family has been ploughed into renewing and expanding the vineyard and replanting with the traditional Sangiovese grape vines. The farm now covers a total area of 380 hectares with 21 hectares being designated Chianti Rufina DOCG
With the collaboration of Fabrizio Moltard, a respected Tuscan oenologist the main production facility has been restored to its former glory and all production equipment thoroughly modernised in order to achieve the highest standards of quality within the product range.
The investment into the vineyard and the production facility enables Fattoria Il Lago to produce fine quality wines that has placed it up amongst the best producers in Tuscany. Further investment and improvements are already planned with the firm intent to continually improve quality throughout the product range.
