Dicomano is situated in the province of Tuscany, at the confluence of the torrent Comano and the river Sieve, where the Mugello valley ends and the Valdisieve begins. It is a small town surrounded by the green Apennines and located in the middle of a landscape almost unaltered by time.
Its origins date back to the Roman period when the Romans conquered the whole area inhabited by the Etruscans. From that period and the following centuries the area still preserves important remains: the archaeological excavations of the Etruscan site in Frascole, the Romanesque parish church of S. Maria, the beautiful oratory of S. Onofrio, masterpiece of neoclassicism in Tuscany.
Azienda Agricola Frascole is owned and run by Enrico Lippi and is wife Elisa Santoni and extends over 100 hectares, reaching up from the valley floor to a height of 500 metres above sea level with most of the farm on the hill set to grow olives and grapes.
The business centre is the “Vico Estate” renowned for producing the famous wines of “Venia” IGT, “Frascole Chianti Rufina” DOCG, “Frascole Chianti Rufina Riserva” DOCG, Chianti “Bitornino” DOCG, Vin Santo and extra vergine olive oil.
Vico is located on the hill of Frascole, overlooking the town of Dicomano in a very important archaeological area belonging at the Etruscan period. This small complex of houses belongs to the Middle Ages and is situated between vineyards and olive-groves.
